Employment in the Northern Inland Region
The employment opportunities in our region are as diverse as the landscape and our communities. The Northern Inland region hosts a range of industries including agriculture, agri-business, aviation, manufacturing and processing, mining, natural resources development, tourism, transport and distribution, education and training, engineering and construction, information technology, and research and development. There is a wealth of opportunities for professionals, retail workers and tradespeople alike.
A career in agricluture is a fascinating and rewarding carerr path that is constantly evolving. However, living in a regional area does not mean you will need to work on a farm. In fact, there are more people employed in health care and social assistance in our region than agriculture, forestry and fishing. Although the agriculture, forestry and fishing industry in the region produces an output of almost $5 billion per year, it accounts for only 14% of our economy's employment (RDA-NI Remplan Emplyment Data).
While the average income for our region may be lower than areas such as Sydney, the cost of living is much lower, with house sale prices 60% lower than Sydney on average, free parking and short commutes.
