As an approved community-based vocational education and training (VET) provider, our college is assisted in reaching students in regional and remote communities that experience barriers to training and employment through the NSW Government’s ACE Program and Smart and Skilled funding. We have a track record delivering our training under these programs in a way we think makes us special.

Some of the subsidised and supported programs we deliver are:

• Training for eligible business people and farmers affected by issues such as pandemic and drought.
• Foundation skills training.
• Programs and support services that help equip people with the language, literacy, numeracy and employability skills required by businesses.
• Training in information technology, business services or foundation skills under the Tech Savvy for Small Business (TSB) program.
• Access to the free Be Connected program for people over 50 who need help to get online and connect using technology.
• Support for eligible students who experience significant barriers to education and employment.

Located in the heart of the North West, TAFE NSW Tamworth offers a regional hub that features wide ranging courses, from certificate through to advanced diplomas.

The state-of-the-art learning facilities provide a practical, hands on learning environment for courses as diverse as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural arts, carpentry, civil construction, gas fitting, hairdressing, retail management and web-based technologies.

UNE Tamworth is UNE's centre for outreach, student support, community engagement and business in the Tamworth Region. Our home in Peel House represents UNE's dedication to education and excellence in our area. We house a Study Centre for Students, a dedicated Student Support Team, the UNE Tamworth branch of our Smart Region Incubator, along with a modern facility for hosting functions and events.

Located in Johnston Street, the University of Newcastle's Tamworth Education Centre gives students access to state-of-the-art laboratory, tutorial and study facilities, including well-equipped clinical skills laboratories. These state-of-the-art simulated learning environments are used to teach procedural and patient care skills to undergrad students and qualified health professionals from various disciplines. They provide the opportunity to practice the skills they will use on real patients but in the safety of a simulated health care setting.

• Calrossy Junior School - comprising students from Prep to Year 6 taught in coeducational classrooms on the William Cowper Campus.
• Calrossy 7 – 9 -  students in Years 7 – 9 learn in independent Boy and Girl classes, and in single-gender pastoral groups on the William Cowper Campus.
• Calrossy Senior Secondary -  is Years 10 - 12 based on the Brisbane Street Campus with students moving to full coeducation in Years 11 and 12.

Carinya enjoys a precious community, which provides a safe, rich learning environment for children.  As Principal, it is my great pleasure to meet all new families that come into the school and watch the children grow in their knowledge and understanding of God’s amazing world.

Dungowan Public School is a small rural school which draws its students from the local community. The majority of students travel to school on the bus with a few using private means. The school and its community strive to provide a safe, happy, quality learning environment which aims to achieve a balance in the social, emotional, physical, spiritual and academic development of all the students. Dungowan Public School is a friendly school in which the children are polite, well mannered and protective of each other which is evidenced by the successful buddy system which operates between the Kindergarten and the Year Six students.

Duri Public School is a well maintained and equipped school set in attractive, spacious surroundings. It is approximately one kilometre from the village of Duri and twenty kilometres from the large rural city of Tamworth. The school focuses on being student centred and is committed to providing the opportunity for personal achievement in a balanced educational environment. The relatively small class numbers provides the opportunity for more individual learning programs to cater for student's needs. The staff and community work together as an effective team to make balanced and well informed decisions for the betterment of the school and students.

Farrer has established an enviable and well-deserved reputation as the sole, public, agricultural high school for boys in Australia.

350 of 600 students reside at the school. Emphasis is placed upon the maintenance of traditions and upon the ongoing pursuit of excellence in all facets of school life - in teaching and learning, welfare, agriculture, sport and cultural programs.

The provision of a safe and caring environment, in both the boarding and day sections of the school, is of paramount importance, and comprehensive welfare support structures are in place to encourage harmonious cooperation. Hillvue Public School caters for families from a variety of backgrounds.

McCarthy Catholic College is a co-educational high school, from Years 7 to 12, and a systemic College in the Diocese of Armidale.

McCarthy Catholic College continues the traditions in Catholic education of the Dominican Sisters and Christian Brothers who contributed significantly to the culture and growth of both the former Colleges.

Nundle Public School is a centre piece of the beautiful village of Nundle.

The school has been established for some 130 years and continues to provide an excellent education to children from the local village and surrounding properties. Whilst Nundle is 60km from the nearest city of Tamworth, students do not feel the effects of isolation.

The school provides excellent opportunities in the arts and sport. Local community members are heavily involved in extending the educational opportunities of our students.

Nundle has excellent facilities including a 25 metre swimming pool opposite the school, tennis courts next to the school, a town oval also situated next to the school, an excellent park opposite the school which often serves as an extension of the playground and a golf course and bowling green 5 minutes walk from the school. Oxley High School (1100 students; 17% Aboriginal students) is a dynamic comprehensive high school located in the regional centre of Tamworth.

Oxley High School has a close connection to the community through academic, social, sporting and cultural achievements. The school is renowned for producing students of consistently high HSC achievement. Historically, well in excess of 60% and at times up to 90% of the HSC cohort will attend university. Many graduating students are recognised nationally and internationally in Medicine, Law, Research, Creative and Performing Arts and Sport.

Oxley High School offers a broad range of electives from Years 7-12 including Accelerated Mathematics (8-11), Languages, Extension English and Mathematics I and II, Drama, Dance, Visual Arts, Agriculture, Music, Gifted and Talented Sport and Theatre. A key feature of the school is the commitment of students, staff and community to an expansive curriculum, including extra-curricular activities, which allows students to achieve to their personal and academic best. Oxley High School has a partnership with the University of New England and is considered a Centre of Excellence in education. The school has a Middle and Senior School, Clontarf Aboriginal Boys Academy and Role Models Australia Aboriginal Girls Academy.

Peel High is a rural comprehensive high school catering for Years 7-12 with a partially Selective Stream.It is part of the State Selective Schools network.The school has around 35% Indigenous population and is part of the state academically selective schools system. The school provides a broad curriculum catering for all students, with strong links with the community, parents, TAFE, local businesses and local government schools.

Peel is a well-maintained and equipped school set in attractive, spacious surroundings. Our aim is to provide a safe learning environment in which all students can experience success. The school prides itself on developing academic, cultural and sporting achievements. Peel continues to provide an inclusive curriculum and caring environment in which all students can achieve their best.

The school provides for a wide range of students, with a Support Faculty for Special needs and a selective stream for those more academically inclined. Peel is a leading school in Agriculture. It has had success over many years with Suffolk sheep and Angus cattle along with poultry breeding and showing. 

Somerton Public School is a small school situated 35 kms from Tamworth. St Joseph’s Barraba is a vibrant and progressive school, providing a high quality Catholic Education to students in the local area.

We’re open from 7am – 8:40am for Before School Care with breakfast provided, 3:10pm – 6pm for After School Care with afternoon tea provided and 7am – 6pm during Vacation Care.

The Nundle Public School P&C Association Out Of School Hours Care (OOSHC) Facility has been operational since September 2013. The OOSH service provides Parents and Carers the flexibility of having their child cared for by qualified staff after school hours and during school holidays at Nundle Public School.
